USU Software: Intensifies Cooperation with Automotive Group on Software License Management

Bayerische Motoren Werke AG is expanding its cooperation with USU to optimize its group-wide Software Asset Management (SAM). The current contract covers the migration of the existing USU software asset management solution to a SAM-as-a-service solution. Going forward, USU will run the app as a full-service provider for the BMW Group in its own data center in Aachen and provide numerous managed technical services.

The proactive software asset management strategy relieves the BMW Group of a whole series of manual tasks. Thus, the automotive group can focus on relevant business data to make the right decisions regarding compliance and for the best possible use of software licenses.

The BMW Group had already chosen a USU SaaS and managed services solution for SAP license optimization in 2021. With more than 100,000 SAP users, the automaker is one of the largest SAP customers worldwide. Based on its positive experiences with the USU solution, the BMW Group is also extending this full-service version to software management and control from all manufacturers it uses. Both SaaS applications run on a central server. For software inventory of cloud and on-premises applications, the USU Discovery module is also used.

“I am delighted that we are further expanding our cooperation with the BMW Group and that we can actively support our long-standing customer by minimizing risks and significantly reducing software costs. Especially in these difficult times, the profitable use of software is particularly important,” says Achim. Rudolph, Managing Director of USU Technologies GmbH.
