Process and control today | Software update with new features and one month trial for AI training software

Users of the all-in-one IDS NXT ocean on-board vision system now have a whole range of new features. These include multi-ROI (“Region Of Interest”) for AI-based object detection and the ability to use different neural networks for different ROIs in a single image via Vision App. Additionally, there are grouping mode, line scan, and performance and configuration improvements. New customers can also choose freely whether they want to use the flagship IDS NXT training software on AWS – as previously offered by IDS – or now also via Microsoft Azure Cloud.

With Microsoft Azure Cloud Services, IDS Imaging Development Systems now supports another host for the IDS NXT lighthouse AI training software in addition to AWS. The offer is particularly aimed at companies that are not authorized to work with AWS due to regulatory requirements. The scope of functions and services as well as the operation of the training software are the same with both hosts. Instead of setting up their own development environment, users can start training their own neural network immediately in IDS NXT lighthouse, even without prior knowledge of Deep Learning or camera programming. It involves three essential steps: upload sample images, label them, and then start fully automatic training. The resulting network is optimized for use with IDS NXT industrial cameras.

IDS NXT Flagship Free Trial Month for All Customers
How simple and practical is the tool in reality? Interested parties can now judge for themselves. The company allows all customers to activate one month free trial and thoroughly test the flagship IDS NXT. No sales contact is required to activate the full trial license. All they have to do is register with their IDS user account at the flagship IDS NXT ( and select the appropriate option during the process. The license key is automatically provided.

The current software release also heralds a new regular cycle of feature updates. Going forward, the company will release new features approximately every three to four months, which will further enhance the IDS NXT system and give customers even more possibilities to design their image processing applications. The next update, also free, is scheduled for April.
