D-Tools System Integrator software update adds cost of labor and timing

D-Tools, a provider of data-driven software for electronic system contractors, announces the availability of System Integrator (SI), version 17, which adds functionality and reporting capabilities to the entire solution from start to finish.

New software enhancements are said to help companies better track employee usage, project performance, and key financial metrics.

“The extension of SI’s project time tracking capability to a complete timing module allows for detailed and accurate costing of jobs. With accurate job costing, SI can automatically generate labor usage reports, calculate earned revenue, and view the overall backlog, ”said Randy Stearns, CEO of D-Tools. “At customer request, we’ve also made key improvements to catalog management, component ID naming conventions, and the Gantt chart, improvements that will bring smiles to both new and experienced users.

Beyond tracking the time associated with a given task, SI now offers a complete timing functionality. Timesheet data can be exported for payroll purposes, but more importantly, it can be used to track actual working hours and labor costs against budget, which provides a certain number of downstream advantages.

D-Tools says new views in Business Analytics based on approved timesheet entries help understand project status and team performance, while providing better tools for effective decision making:

  • Work Costing – allows users to track actual project costs on labor and equipment for revenue recognition purposes, providing visibility into whether a given project is under budget , on or over budget. The labor cost analysis can be viewed by project and by phase.
  • Labor Usage Reports – display billable and non-billable hours and can be viewed individually by employee or collectively by workforce type to monitor and optimize team performance .
  • Project Income – calculates the income earned project by project within a chosen date range.
  • Backlog – calculates the income to be earned for a given project, a group of projects or for all active projects.

Among other new feature sets, catalog enhancements are expected to speed up product data management. Manufacturer aliases match data in cases where variations exist in a manufacturer’s name between an integrator’s product catalog, supplier price lists, D-Tools product library, and others. data sources. This avoids errors and redundancies when updating catalogs, while greatly facilitating the merging of data from multiple sources.

Likewise, the default phases from the D-Tools product library can now be mapped to user-created phase names to avoid having to overwrite them.
